An investor, who started a business for £300 and sold it for £55m, has launched a new venture capital fund targeting the e-commerce sector.

London-based entrepreneur Mark Pearson, the founder of MyVoucherCodes, has set up Fuel.Ventures on the back of what he says is a 70X average return from his previous 10 e-commerce investments.

With European mobile commerce sales expected to grow from €17.3bn in 2013 to €113.3bn in 2018, Fuel.Ventures EIS Fund 1 will target super-early seed, seed and A-stage companies.

Pearson is a digital entrepreneur and investor who in 1998 won a national cookery competition and joined Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant at Claridges. He began his career in e-commerce in 2006 starting Marco Media, the company behind MyVoucherCodes, which sold to Monitise in 2014 for £55m.
